My Mother Had Me Too Early
SWENSDAY STUFF
Can you believe how much money these NBA players are making today?
My Mother Had Me Too Early
The NBA players, playing today,
Have millions of dollars, banked in their name.
And mansions and cars and a classy chalet.
We didn’t have that, when I played the game.
And huge SUVs with those whistles and bells,
Those DVD players and all of that jive.
I had a Ford Pinto with musty-old smells,
A bent rearview mirror, and single-wheel drive.
Their mansions have rooms up above and beneath.
Their bathrooms are long and are wide and have height.
My bathroom’s so small, when brushing my teeth,
I could only go left or could only go right.
They’re pictured in Esquire and also GQ,
With clothes so expensive, they shimmer and gleam.
My jeans and my Pendleton shirt, it is true,
Were mo-betta suited for Field and Stream.
They stay in the finest hotels and resorts.
Their rooms are so large they take up a whole floor.
My room was so small, I had to wear shorts,
And the window broke, with the key in the door.
They go to those parlors and pay through the nose,
For someone to mark them all up with tattoos.
I couldn’t afford all that art they compose.
The only tattoo that I got was a bruise.
Oh mother, oh mother, you had me too early.
Why didn’t you wait and take birth-control pills?
Then I would have made all that money, and surely,
Be living and styling in Beverly Hills.
